Driving License Category A2
The category A2 driving license allows you to drive motorcycles without a sidecar with a maximum engine power of 35 kW. The power/weight ratio of the motorbike cannot exceed 0.2kW/kg.
This driving license was created to let you get your small motorcycle driving licence early, and then move on to the A2 licence, which has more engine power.
Scooters and motorcycles
Driving license category A2 is the second stage of motorcycle driving licence. It allows you to drive small motorcycles (up to 50cc) and mopeds with a maximum capacity of 125cc. This class permits you to gradually increase the horsepower of your vehicle and to fantasize about larger engines. The test is more difficult than the first category, and you will need to attend more theory lessons to prepare for it.
The category A2 driver's license is valid up to the age of 24. It is valid together with the category A1 car driving licence or as part of a provisional driver's licence. If you're older than 24 years old,

You can obtain your group A1 licence at the age of 16 (in Denmark, Malta, and Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic as well as in Germany, Hungary, Iceland and in the following countries:

After passing the test in category A2, you can drive a motorcycle with or without a sidecar as well as vehicles on three wheels that have a power of up to 35 kW. The vehicles must also have a power/weight ratio of no greater than 0.2 kg/kW and must not be made from a vehicle that has twice the power of the maximum.
If you have completed a two-part moped test or motorcycle test of lower category since 1st July 1996, then you are able to skip the theory test and only take the practical test. You can ride a smaller moped or scooter with L plates, or take the new AM licence that will enable you to ride 50cc bikes with a maximum speed of 45mph. The AM licence is only valid if you've passed your theory test and attended nine hours of training, divided into practical and theory lessons at an instructor at a driving school.
Vehicles with four wheels
This category covers all motorized vehicles with four wheels, with the exception of buses and passenger cars. Also, it includes utilitarian vehicles such as vans, pickups and panels. Campers, motorhomes and lorries are also included. This category also includes vehicles like ambulances, hearses, and carryalls that are designed to carry eight or more passengers or have a weight limit of 750kg or greater. Drivers with an A1 licence are permitted to operate vehicles of this kind with a trailer that has a maximum authorised mass of up to 750kg.
You must have passed the theory test to drive a vehicle in this category. You must complete 12 90-minute lessons on the basic material, and 4 90-minute lessons on the additive (category AA2). The exams in the theory require a minimum score of 70%.
If you pass the theory test, you will have to pass a practical driving test on private property and on public roads. Once you have passed both of these tests, you will be issued the request for a driver's license. This request must be presented to the local authority within three years after passing your practical test.
After passing your driving test, you can begin to drive vehicles of the category A2. In some countries, if you hold an A1 license for two years, there's no requirement to pass a separate test to obtain a category A2 driving licence which permits you to operate motorcycles up 35 kW. This is a way to get experience driving smaller-powered two-wheelers before making the move to more powerful machines.
If you are a holder of a category A2 driving license you are also able to drive a tricycle provided it has a cylinder capacity of up to 125cc and a power output of no more than 11kW. This category was formerly part of the A license. All drivers who had a full category B licence before the 19th of January, 2013 were entitled to use mopeds too and retain this right.
Motor vehicles with five or more wheels
This includes motorized vehicles that are designed to be used on the road, and are used for the transportation of goods or passengers. These vehicles should include at least two or three wheels in contact with ground, a driver's seat or saddle, and a motor that is able to reach speeds of 20 miles per hour or more. These vehicles come with brakes as well as a steering wheel. They can also be steered and can be driven in reverse. In some instances, these vehicles have a hood or other covering that can be opened. This classification was previously used for trucks (vans, minivans, panel, pickups and sport utility vehicles) and buses that carry at least 16 passengers. A slightly different definition is used by a separate federal requirement that sets uniform licensing standards for drivers of commercial vehicles. This definition excludes vehicles with a weight of 26,001 pounds or more.
Additionally to this, the category A2 driving license can be used to drive a moped motorcycle or motor-driven cycle. This type of license is only valid for motors that have an cylinder capacity of 125 cubic centimeters, or a maximum power of 15 kilowatts. This license is also valid to drive tricycles with motors. The minimum age for this license class is 16 years old. Physically disabled persons may also have provisional entitlement to drive category A1 or A motor tricycles.
Some people opt to get an operator license, which is valid for vehicles with a the maximum authorized mass of 3,500kg and eight seats for passengers. A driver's operator license allows them to tow trailers that weigh up to 750kg MAM. They are also able to tow a trailer up to 3,500kg using a tractor, or construction equipment.

Motor vehicles with trailers
Category A2 comprises motor vehicles that have trailers. These are not vehicles pulled by drivers, but rather towed by larger vehicles such as cars. This category includes, for example, a tractor towing a trailer, or small trucks designed to transport loads, such as those used by plumbers or painters to transport supplies and tools to the site of work. The maximum mass that can be authorized (MAM) for this class is 8,250kg.
To drive vehicles in this category you must pass the theory test for category A1 or obtained a driver's license through direct entry. You may also be required to pass a practical driving test depending on the type vehicle you plan to drive.
The license you receive for Category A2 is valid for three years, starting on the day you have passed your theory test. You must renew it prior to the expiry date to keep it in force.
In addition to the categories above, you may also get a licence to drive other vehicles that meet certain requirements. You will require a licence to drive a large vehicle (category C) that requires you to know the regulations for the transportation of hazardous products.
A driving licence for cars in category B allows you to drive a vehicle and trailer that doesn't fit the conditions of category C. This is where code 96 is used. The code 96 will be added to your driving licence category
